Airs and Disgraces
The Airs and
Disgraces show

Julie Roberts and Leonie Mansell
With Gary Holder, double bass
A feisty programme of poetry and song.
Julie’s wonderful interpretations of blues, folk
and contemporary songs and Leonie’s poignant and wickedly witty
poetry explore themes of men, talent, time, life, love and who changes
the loo roll.
Leonie deserves to be nationally known as an accomplished, significant and entertaining poet.
Julie
is a very special singer. Audiences are often very enthusiastic but
when a top singer praises her then it is time to take note.
BBC
Radio Three music presenter and top British jazz vocalist, Claire
Martin, has commented, "Julie Roberts is a fabulous singer... I love
that dark smoky voice . . . She's really brilliant. . . really
sophisticated . . . a great singer." (BBC South Live.)
Airs
and Disgraces is a thought- provoking, entertaining, and
impressive breath of fresh air. There are only two more opportunities
to see it this year. On 18 September in Brighton Sanctuary Cafe and on 21 September in
Windsor Fringe Festival. (See opposite panel.)
This
programme of poetry and song was first performed at the Barn Theatre,
Ifield, Sussex in 2007. A short pre-festival version was seen at The
Floating Fish Cabaret in Worthing on 28 March this year. The full show
was performed on 23 May in Brighton Fringe Festival, a shorter version
on 21 June in Horsham Music Week. A short version was presented on
27 August in the Arundel Festival as a one hour show.
The show
can be booked for folk clubs, poetry groups, festivals etc. See our
contact page.
